## Company

Founded in 1928 by Karl Halfen, HALFEN has evolved over almost a century into an established name in high-quality wool processing. Since 2016, Fabian Halfen, the founder's great-grandson, has been leading the family business in its fourth generation. This cross-generational tradition shapes our understanding of quality: we produce clothing that we would dress our own children in – and that can later be passed on to younger siblings, friends, or the next generation.

## What makes us special

**Grow-along designs:** Many of our garments are designed with tie elements, extendable cuffs, and thoughtful fits so that they fit through several growth phases. One item often replaces two or three conventional sizes.

**Pure Merino Wool:** We exclusively use merino wool from certified, mulesing-free sources. Merino wool is a natural material with unique properties – particularly valuable for sensitive children's skin.

**Timeless Design:** Our collections do not follow fleeting trends. We develop garments that can be worn, passed on, and loved for years.

**Our partnership with Steamery:** In cooperation with the Swedish care specialist Steamery, we offer sustainable care products. Proper care significantly extends the lifespan of merino wool and reduces the ecological footprint.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**Is merino wool scratchy?**
No. Our merino wool has particularly fine fibres (mostly under 19 microns), which feel soft on the skin – suitable even for babies and sensitive skin.

**How do I care for merino wool properly?**
Merino wool needs to be washed significantly less often than other materials. Usually, airing it out is sufficient. If washing is necessary: wool wash cycle at 30°C with wool detergent, dry flat.

**What does "grow-along" mean?**
Many of our garments have tie elements, fold-over cuffs, or flexible cuts that allow one item to be worn over several sizes. This saves money, resources, and wardrobe space.

**What is mulesing and why is "mulesing-free" important?**
Mulesing is a painful procedure performed on sheep, used in some countries to prevent parasites. We reject this practice and source our wool exclusively from certified, mulesing-free sources.
