The main difference is the fabric weight in general.

The thinner boiled wool is made from a finer wool, which makes it softer and more supple. This makes it particularly suitable for infants and toddlers.

The thicker, more robust boiled wool is more durable and especially well suited for snow, particularly cold days, or children who tend to wear out clothes more quickly. For example, crawling children on the playground. Our boiled wool overall has higher durability due to its thicker fabric and it doesn't wear out as quickly.

Furthermore, boiled wool overalls, jackets, and dungarees made from thick boiled wool can also be worn in really cold temperatures, and the little ones, or you yourself, are perfectly protected against the cold.

We only use sustainable, animal-friendly, and fair virgin wool that is kbT (controlled organic animal husbandry) and GOTS certified. Our yarns are exclusively mulesing- and chlorine-free and come from Patagonia, the southern part of Argentina.

The sheep are shorn once a year after winter. The sheep breed has particularly thin hair, which makes the wool itself very fine and high-quality. Shearing a sheep yields about 2 kg of the finest wool, which can then be processed.

Mulesing is the painful removal of skin around the tail of sheep. This method is particularly common in Australia. It is intended to prevent an infestation with blowfly larvae, which lay their eggs there. The so-called blowfly strike is also a cruel disease, as the hatched larvae bore into the flesh of the sheep and eat them alive from the inside. Therefore, the climate should be perfect for sheep farming. Too much heat and rain would only exacerbate this. The only alternative to mulesing is pesticide baths, which would, however, be found in the wool.

In Patagonia, where we source our wool, this fly is not present. Therefore, we are naturally mulesing-free.

Virgin wool is merely the umbrella term for the individual types of wool.

Sheep's virgin wool comes exclusively from live animals and is freshly obtained once or twice a year. The European Textile Regulation precisely dictates how the individual types of wool may be named. There are different sheep breeds (such as Cheviot, Merino, Crossbred), all of which supply virgin wool. Merino wool is the highest quality wool. This in turn has sub-classifications and is sorted after shearing, for example by color, length, and fineness of the individual fibers.

In our 100% virgin wool overalls, little ones are snugly warm and protected even in sub-zero temperatures. And that's despite the suits not being lined. Felted wool has a lot of air between its fibers, providing excellent insulation. The all-rounder virgin wool can absorb up to 80% of its material weight in moisture (such as snow and rain) on the surface without feeling wet on the skin. However, felted wool is never completely waterproof or 100% wind-resistant. Powder snow poses no problems at all, but it's a different story with huge puddles.

Therefore, the rule of thumb is: the colder the temperatures, the more layers should be worn! Ideally, natural materials like wool or silk. These are particularly breathable and temperature-regulating.

Always pay attention to wind strength to choose the right layer to wear underneath. On a sunny, windless day, the overall can even be worn perfectly at -10 degrees. However, if there's a strong wind at 5 degrees, it could already be too cold for the little ones.

Yes, if the desired size or variation is available, we will gladly exchange your item. You can request an exchange via the returns portal. Exchanging for a different size/color is free of charge for you. We advise you to return the item as soon as possible. The exchange will be automatically generated as soon as the item arrives at our warehouse and has been checked.

Natural materials such as wool, linen or organic cotton should be washed as gently as possible and at low temperatures. More detailed care instructions can be found directly on the product.

To preserve materials, shape, and colors in the long term, we usually recommend air drying.

Wool is a natural product and also dirt-repellent. As it remains a natural product even in felted form, it should only be cleaned gently.

The natural new wool still contains a high proportion of natural wool grease (lanolin). This gives the felted item its easy-care and dirt-repellent properties. Most dirt can be brushed off dry or shaken out. Unpleasant odors often disappear simply by hanging the item out to air, due to the humidity in the air.

If washing is absolutely necessary, it is recommended to turn the product inside out and hand wash it. In both cases, please use only suitable wool detergents. If you want to use a washing machine with a hand wash program, please make sure that it is only washed at cold temperatures and under no circumstances spun. It is also strongly advised not to wash the products before the first wear, as we only use certified materials.

Furthermore, baby clothes made of new wool should not be wrung out and certainly not tumble dried.
