Baby Tops – the right layer for every day
Babies don't regulate their body temperature themselves during the first few months – so the right layer of clothing makes a big difference. In this collection, you'll find baby tops made from merino wool, cashmere, alpaca, and boiled wool: light wrap jackets for indoors, cardigans as a middle layer, and boiled wool jackets for outdoors.
Which top is suitable when?
- Schlüttli (Merino Wool Wrap Jacket): The classic first-time jacket. Ties at the side – no buttons, no zipper – and therefore lies comfortably flat on sensitive skin. Also available in a sale version.
- Alpaca Wool Wrap Jacket: Particularly soft and with high thermal performance at a low weight – alpaca is naturally lanolin-free.
- Cashmere & Merino Wool Cardigan: Fine knit with a soft feel, ideal as a gift and for special occasions.
- Chunky Knit Baby Jacket: The warm knitted version with a loose stitch pattern – cozy for cooler days.
- Boiled Wool Tie Jacket: The warmest option in this collection. Boiled wool is naturally water and dirt-repellent – perfect as a light outdoor layer or over a bodysuit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Schlüttli?
A Schlüttli is a traditional wrap cardigan for babies that is fastened at the side with ties – without buttons or zippers. This allows the jacket to lie flat against delicate baby skin without pressing and makes it especially easy to put on and take off. Our Schlüttli cardigans are made from soft merino wool.
Which material is best suited for the first months of life?
For the first months, we recommend fine knitwear made from merino wool, alpaca, or cashmere. These fibers are especially soft, temperature-regulating, and can be worn directly on the skin. Boiled wool is ideal as a warming outer layer over a bodysuit or romper.
What sizes are available for the baby tops?
Our baby tops are available in sizes 50/56 to 86/92 – from newborn up to around the first year of life. Not every model is available in all sizes. Exact availability can be found on the respective product page.
Does wool itch on sensitive baby skin?
No. We exclusively use extra-fine natural yarns such as merino wool, cashmere, and alpaca. These fibers are much finer than traditional wool and feel pleasantly soft on the skin – direct skin contact is completely comfortable.
How do I properly care for wool baby tops?
Wool rarely needs washing – usually airing it out in fresh air is enough. If needed, hand wash or use a wool cycle at a maximum of 30°C with a mild wool detergent, then dry flat. Never tumble dry to maintain the garment’s shape.
