Knitted clothing for children is more than just a warm sweater – it's a piece of security. At HALFEN, since 1928, we have been manufacturing high-quality children's clothing from natural materials in our own knitting factory in Germany. Our children's knitwear is made from pure merino wool, soft cashmere, noble alpaca, and carefully selected virgin wool – processed fairly and regionally, with a love for craftsmanship.
Why Knitted Clothing Made from Natural Yarn?
Knitted wool clothing is naturally temperature-regulating. It warms in winter without overheating in spring and autumn. The fine mesh structure wicks moisture away, neutralizes odors, and keeps children dry and comfortably warm when moving. Unlike synthetic fibers, wool does not static charge and, thanks to its fine fiber structure, is particularly skin-friendly – suitable even for sensitive children's skin and allergy sufferers.

We rely exclusively on high-quality natural fibers: merino wool from controlled organic livestock farming (kbT) for its fineness and softness, cashmere for noble warmth with low weight, alpaca for special thermal performance and lanolin-free skin compatibility, and pure virgin wool for robust longevity. Many of our materials are mulesing-free or GOTS-certified – you'll look in vain for synthetic admixtures here.
Care of Knitwear – How to Keep Your Favorite Sweater Beautiful for a Long Time
Wool knitwear rarely needs washing. Airing out in the fresh air reliably freshens up knitted items. If necessary, wash by hand or on a wool wash cycle at a maximum of 30 degrees with a mild wool detergent. Never tumble dry – always dry flat so that the knit retains its shape. Small pilling knots can be gently removed with a wool comb.

No. Our children's knitwear is made from particularly fine natural yarns such as merino wool and alpaca. These fibers are much finer than traditional wool and feel pleasantly soft on the skin – even for sensitive children and those with allergies. Direct skin contact is completely safe.

Thanks to its natural properties, wool knitwear is largely self-cleaning. Simply air out the sweater or cardigan in fresh air – this is sufficient in most cases.
